"Microsoft has decided to discontinue development of Microsoft Agent technologies.
Beginning with Windows® 7, Microsoft Agent will not be included or supported in future versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system.
Also, Microsoft will not offer new licenses or renewals for the Agent components and characters, and will not update the Microsoft Agent components".

For that reason, the SpeakingBuddy! project has been abandoned, and there are no plans for further development.

SpeakingBuddy! is an educational software developed to help teach children, motivating them to improve their reading, writing and basic maths skills.

It uses Text-To-Speech and funny animated characters, which in other words means an easier way for teaching and an amusing way for learning.

SpeakingBuddy! has many useful features in a very simple and easy-to-use interface. The StoryPad! and BasicMaths! features invite and stimulate children to learn while having fun.

With the StoryPad!, they can write their own stories and have the animated characters reading them.

The BasicMaths! is a very simple, 'big numbers' calculator with the four operations, where they can make basic calculations, also having the animated characters helping on the tasks.

And for safety, SpeakingBuddy! comes with a strong and reliable word filter: the BadWordFilter! feature prevents any word not suitable for children to be copied, written or read in any part of the program.

Everyone can use SpeakingBuddy! for free, either for learning or for fun. Just download it and use it.
